To help voters learn more about the candidates, the Gazette sent the same questions to each candidate running for office. We limited all responses to 150 words or less, and we asked questions about the candidates' backgrounds and about some of the issues they would likely face if elected to the city council. Here's what city council candidate Evan Francis, a challenger, had to say.

Two Taunton City Council candidates were eliminated and 18 will be advancing to the November general election, according to the unofficial results from Tuesday's preliminary election. Voter turnout for Taunton's preliminary election on Tuesday, Sept. 23, was about 7%, with 3,191 ballots cast out of 43,991 registered voters. Voters were asked to select up to nine candidates for city council.

Reminder tomorrow, Tuesday September 23rd is the preliminary election for Taunton City Council. This election will determine the final candidates who will move on to the November 4th city election ballot. 

Taunton will be holding a preliminary election on Sept. 23 for City Council. The September preliminary election will reduce the number of candidates for City Council from 20 to 18 prior to the Nov. 4 general election.
